We’ll provide you with clear information about your rights and share proven strategies that have helped thousands of Dutchess County residents with disabilities and their families achieve their goals. Benefits Advisement
Our Benefits Counselor can guide you on how to apply for and qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). They can also explain how returning to work may impact your benefits.

Special Education Advocacy
Our Special Education Advocates are committed to providing families with information, referrals, and technical assistance to ensure all students receive an appropriate and equitable education within our public schools. Our Parent Empowerment Program (PEP) offers advocacy training, parent-to-parent networking and support.

Our Transition Specialists assist individuals in nursing homes in transition back to community living. They provide guidance and support throughout the entire process.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Advocacy Services
Our Advocate can help you request auxiliary communication aids. We will educate the community about the technology & services available to provide full access for persons who are deaf/hard of hearing.

Programs Increasing Access to the Community
MID-HUDSON INTERPRETER SERVICE (MHIS)
Our Mid-Hudson Interpreter Service (MHIS) provides professional American Sign Language (ASL)/English interpreter services, available for a fee, to ensure seamless access to medical care, educational opportunities, and public events. MHIS provides sign language interpreting services to the Mid-Hudson Valley area, including Dutchess, Orange, Ulster, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester Counties.

DUTCHESS DISABILITY ADVOCACY PARTNERSHIP (DDAP)
Dutchess Disability Advocacy Partnership (DDAP) is dedicated to promoting and maintaining systems advocacy efforts that will result in improving and enhancing the civil rights of individuals with disabilities in Dutchess County. The overarching goal of DDAP is to promote the full inclusion of persons with disabilities in every aspect of community life in Dutchess County.
